After Valley Beats on 13 January with Emdee, Knights Winery in Middle Swan have announced another two intimate music festivals.

violent_femmesThe Swan Valley Blues n Roots Fest is held on 3 February and features The Violent Femmes, Tex (Perkins), Don & Charlie, Blues Shaddy, Farryl Purkiss & Veeva Feeva and Gang of Three.
Tickets are $57.40 from BOCS.

BLUE_KING_BROWN

Valley Fest is held on 17 February and features Blue King Brown, Double Entendre, Blue Shaddy, The Simon Kelly Band, Zarm and DJ Deruki.
Tickets are $22.20 from BOCS.

Knights Winery is located on the Gt Northern Highway in Middle Swan. Gates open from 3pm for all events.

If you’re into blues and roots, I can definitely recommend these gigs, as I’ve personally seen The Violent Femmes (blues and roots fest in Fremantle 05), Blue Shaddy (Blues at Bridgetown 04, 05 and 06) and Double Entendre (City Farm, Norfolk Hotel recently). I’m very much looking forward to seeing Blue King Brown this weekend at Southbound, and I’ve also heard many good things about local Simon Kelly! If nothing else pops up, I think I may head down to the Valley Fest one…  (update: Yes, I’m going, see you there!)

If I wasn’t such an old bugger I’d go to the The Swan Valley Blues n Roots Fest, but only to see the Violent Femmes.

It would make me sound way too old if I mentioned that I saw them in concert in Perth around 20 years ago, so lets just say I’ve seen them perform before and they’re outstanding.

You’re not old! And I’m sure the crowd for that gig wouldn’t even be THAT young anyway, not many of my age or younger would know them!
And it’s so close to you, you could easily go by bike, though I can imagine the Gt Northern hwy is a bit scary… :D

Great Northern Highway certainly has it’s moments on a bike but it’s OK. I’ve had a few trucks get a little closer than I’d like as I’ve headed along there on a Saturday morning. :)

And I see you are performing at the Big Day Out too, I’ll have to track you down there!
