The annual Fremantle Festival is on again, starting this Saturday, 18 November and on till Sunday 25 November 2007.
Fremantle Festival is the principal community event held in Fremantle each year. It is a celebration of the stimulating and colourful culture that enriches Fremantle and fosters participation of all cultural, ethnic, arts and community groups.
A few of the highlights (all free events!):
Croatian Cultural Week Celebration - Saturday 17 November - 7 to 9pm
Croation Community Centre, North Fremantle
All ages and nationalities are invited to get a taste of Croatia during a cultural evening which will include performances from Ivan Gundulic, folkloric groups Zagreb plus instrumental and vocal duo Veko and Mate Sumic.
Wardarnji Festival - Saturday 17 November - 2 to 9 pm
Mandoora’ Fremantle Esplanade Reserve
The Wardarnji Indigenous Cultural Celebration is one of the highlights on the Indigenous cultural calendar and has been proudly associated with the Fremantle Festival since 1993.
Street Carnival - Sunday 18 November - 3 to 9pm
Festival Carnival Day features fantastic street theatre, musicians, markets, free family activities as well as all the indulgences the cappuccino strip has to offer.
Lotterywest Street Parade - Sunday 18 November - from 4pm
Departing from the Esplanade Reserve
Featuring a wide and unique array of community groups and individuals the Parde will breeze through the streets of Fremantle, the parade promises vibrant colour, jumping music, electrifying movement and a gale force full of surprises!
Bhangra Street Dance Party - Sunday 18 November - 6 to 9 pm - South Terrace
Modern bhangra is the fusion of Indian folk music sampled into the sounds of Bollywood dance, Latin, break beat, drum & bass and hip-hop. Our hottest bhangra DJ’s will be whipping up a storm which will leave you powerless, other than to dance all the way down the strip.
